In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing and recent high-profile campus shootings, event security is top of mind for most planners.  Sgt. Beth Gieske will explain how to prevent potential security problems and prepare for those that are unavoidable.  Attendees will learn the skills and obtain the tools to design a safe meeting/event environment, reduce liability and even manage group behavior at your next event.

Upon completion of this workshop participants should be able to:

  • Manage a crisis and apply the necessary steps to ensure event participants' safety
  • Communicate effectively to build participants' confidence in your leadership
  • Train event personnel to analyze and assess emergency situations
  • Draft an emergency plan

*Note that registration fees must be made by check or credit card only. Individuals paying by check should bring their check, made payable to "University Event Planners", to the workshop.
